Holiday-Prepping Activities to Do With Your Kids This Season – As soon as Halloween is over, the holiday season comes in full swing! There are so many fun activities to do with your kids to make memories, decorate, and get in the holiday spirit. Try the following activities right here on Newsymom!
This informational campaign comes to you in partnership with the Stark County Community Action Agency.
If you’ve seen the latest Mariah Carey TikTok, you’d know everywhere is in full holiday season mode! Before getting to the actual major holiday celebrations, we can use this time to make preparations and bond with our kids! Check out these tips on how to make some lasting memories while in the holiday spirit.
Decorate Your Home
Get into the spirit by having your littles help you crack out your seasonal decor! Take it to the next step by having a craft day where your kids make holiday decor or ornaments to display at home. (Plus, this gives you another reason to hit up Hobby Lobby for “supplies”.)
Take Family Photos
The season is a perfect opportunity to get family photos done! Hire a photographer or grab a friend to snap pictures of your family. Go to your favorite place, or keep the photoshoot at home! Take it to the next level and use those photos to make a holiday card to send to extended family and friends.

Try Something New
Maybe you don’t know how to ice skate… Now’s the time to try! Show your kids by example and try a new activity that pushes you out of your comfort zone – whether you fall on your butt or not! There are new events going on frequently. Check here for events going on near you that you could take your family to: Stark County Events
Test a New Holiday Dinner Menu
Cooking for the holiday can be so fun, but have you thought of switching up what’s on the menu? Spend some time coming up with a new menu with your kids, go shopping for ingredients, make the food, and vote on which items make the cut! They’ll be so grateful for being included in traditions, and you’ll have helpers in the kitchen.
Sponsor a Family in Need for the Holidays
Do you know a family in need that you could help this holiday season? Include the whole family to help sponsor a family in need by providing help with gifts, transportation, utility assistance, and much more! If you don’t know of a family in need, you could also support organizations such as Catholic Charities, A Community Christmas, Toys for Tots (Stark County), and the Salvation Army.
The holiday season is filled with magic, togetherness, and hope. Sometimes, as a mom, things get tough. If you’ve been needing some additional support, the SCCAA Community Actions Pathway HUB is available for pregnant and new mothers in need of support, education, and community services. Awesome article. I can’t wait to be with my family this holiday season. I’m finally getting around to deep-cleaning my home. It’ll make the holidays that much brighter in my view at least. I even hired a local dumpster rental company to help. Thanks for this article on things I can do with my family.
