(U.S.) – A bipartisan vote in the House is sending legislation to the Senate that would offer paid sick leave, unemployment insurance, free testing, money for food stamps and more amid COVID-19 concerns.
With an overwhelming passing vote, the House pushed an economic relief bill to the Senate early Saturday to aid Americans. The bill dedicates tens of billions of dollars in economic relief.
Not long after the bill was passed by the House Trump endorsed the legislation via Twitter where he indicated widespread GOP support.
“This bill will follow my direction for free CoronaVirus tests, and paid sick leave for our impacted American workers,” he tweeted. “I encourage all Republicans and Democrats to come together and VOTE YES! I will always put the health and well-being of American families FIRST. Look forward to signing the final Bill, ASAP!”
The bill is expected to be passed by the Senate next week.
