Indian Valley High School Designated with Purple Star Award

Tuscarawas County’s Indian Valley High School has been designated as a Class of 2022 Purple Star Award School. 

The Purple Star Designation is given out by the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) to schools that show a major commitment to students and families connected to the United States military. 

Indian Valley High School achieved the following requirements to be honored with the designation listed on the ODE Purpose Star website: 

  • The school must have a staff point-of-contact for military students and families who serves as the primary liaison between them and the school.
  •  The school maintains a dedicated page on its website featuring resources for military families.

 Purple Star Award

There were 263 Ohio schools that earned the 2022 Purple Star designation this year. Indian Valley is one of the 94 schools that earned the award for the first time.

There are 169 schools that earned a renewal this year after three years as dedicated Purple Star schools.

There are a total of 431 active Purple Star Award schools across the state of Ohio.
