Indian Valley High School Safe and Secure

The Indian Valley Local School District is announcing the conclusion of a building search after an ‘unsubstantiated threat’ was found.

At 10:40 Monday morning district officials announced the threat was discovered in the boy’s bathroom at the high school. Students and staff were evacuated to allow the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office to search the building.

Specific details about the threat have not been released.

Just before 1:00 p.m. the district issued an update indicating the building is safe and secure.

Officials explained in the statement published to the district’s website that every room, locker, backpack, and bag in the building had been checked. Students and staff were ushered back into the building and classes are expected to dismiss at 3:00 p.m. as normal.

“We are continuing to work with law enforcement to provide one extra layer of security in our investigation,” explained school officials in a written statement.

They added no additional updates are planned today, “Thank you for your trust and knowing that we will always work diligently to the upmost degree to ensure the safety of your sons and daughters.”
