According officials with the Tuscarawas County Health Department in Ohio, 90 % of all car seats nationwide are installed incorrectly.
Officials note while many mistakes are minor, some can mean the difference between life and death.
Reports indicate some people simply do not know how to correctly use the harness, while others leave the car seats too loose and not tightly secured to the seat.
This afternoon, Certified Child Passenger Technicians will be checking car seats for free in New Philadelphia.
The free checks will take place in the old Hollywood Video parking lot on Mill Avenue SE from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
