Summertime Priorities

It’s summertime. My house is a wreck and it drives me crazy sometimes…

<p>Between baseball, water play, and front porch sitting it’s not looking like it’s going to get better anytime soon.
As much as I would love to come in and have it cleaned up and spotless everyday it’s not going to happen. We fly by the seat of our pants here 90% of the time and although I’ve contemplated coming up with a schedule to follow to keep us all in line there is still a rebellious teenager inside of me that hates to be tied down to a play by play of what I’m supposed to be doing everyday at each hour of the day.
There was a time in my life that I cared what people would think if they came to my house and *gasp* it looked like a family of 5 lived here. Now, I don’t care. If you are able to stay on top of it all I applaud you! I personally am not.
We are just that – a family of 5 with 3 kids under the age of 10. I want to sit on my porch and soak up the sun, play ball in the yard with the kids, ride bikes, have a water gun fight, and yes maybe even attempt the dreaded trampoline again.
One day summer break is going to come and they will be going to the lake with their friends and not begging me to jump with them or throw a ball. The cliché “they grow up so fast” is so true especially in this sense. Their idea of fun is going to change and I’m sure it’s not going to be – mom playing in the yard with us – for much longer.
So judge me if you must, but my house will wait for a rainy day or at night after they’re tucked away snoozing from a long day of playing and I’m done feeling bad about it.
