Jackson Lockdown Lifted, Students Released

Jackson Local School students have been released to their families after a district-wide lockdown today.

The lockdown came after a 7th-grade student shot himself while on campus at Jackson Memorial Middle School.

The student was taken to the hospital with no word on the severity of his injuries.

Reports indicate the student may have also had ‘distractionary devices’ in his backpack.

The entire district was placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure, but officials noted everyone was immediately safe and secure.

No other injuries were reported.
