Local school districts receive state award

(Canal Fulton, Ohio) – Three Stark County school district is recognized by the state for continued student growth.

The districts were recently honored with the Ohio Department of Education’s (ODE’s) Momentum Award for 2018. The state board of education notes the award is designed to recognize schools for student growth. Those to receive the Momentum Award this year include Northwest Local, Lake Local, and North Canton City School Districts.

In order to qualify, a school must earn straight A’s on all value-added measures on the state report card. The school or district must also have at least two out of three value-added subgroups of students. Those groups include gifted students, students who comprise the lowest 20 percent in achievement, and students with disabilities.
