Making Valentine’s Day Sweeter for Our Kids with a Valentine’s Day Scavenger Hunt!

Making Valentine’s Day Sweeter for Our Kids with a Valentine’s Day Scavenger Hunt! – Every year, we make an effort to make our kids’ Valentine’s Day the best they’ve had. This year, let’s add a new tradition to the mix! Learn more about this tradition you can add to your kids’ Valentine’s Day right here on Newsymom!

Each year, my mom always made our Valentine’s Day special. Now before I get into how she made it special, I have to say we didn’t come from money. In fact, we were welfare kids. Penny-pinching, working hard, and saving were what we lived on, so we know a thing or two about making your dollar stretch. Luckily, we were able to get candy with our EBT benefits, visit the Dollar Tree to grab inexpensive gifts and toys, and incorporate inexpensive flowers with the $5 bouquets from Walmart!

My mom didn’t have to spend a bunch to make each Valentine’s Day the best ever! With the little treats she got for us (little candies, small toys, and handmade cards), she made every Valentine’s Day worth remembering by doing the tradition of the Valentine’s Day scavenger hunt. We looked forward to waking up on the holiday and celebrating by running all over the house trying to solve her riddles to find the next clue!

Here’s how she did it and how you can, too!

How To Do Your Own Valentine’s Day Scavenger Hunt

Follow these steps to give your kids the most memorable Valentine’s Day yet:

Step #1: Get your kids their favorite treats, toys, and flowers! You don’t have to spend a lot, but make sure you’re getting their favorite items, and pick a variety of them.
Step #2: Grab some sticky notes and a pen. You’re going to use these to leave clues for your scavenger hunt!
Step #3: Map out locations around your house that you’ll leave clues for the kiddos. Make the corresponding riddles for each clue, and as a bonus, leave a little gift or sweet with some of the clues to get your kids excited for the next one!
Step #4: Whip out the phone, turn on the video, and let the hunt begin! The memories you capture on camera will warm your heart for years to come.

Use this Valentine’s Day formula to bring the spirit of love for years to come.

Happy Valentine’s Day from all of us at Newsymom!
