Moms- What is your brand? I have been thinking about this a lot over the past six months or so. I recently coordinated #TEDxBalchStreet and the theme that my team chose was #RebrandingYou.
As we prepared for the event, I gained a greater sense of self-awareness that has taken me on a journey to discover why I am who I am. The theme #RebrandingYou prompted me to research and really dig into what a brand is. At the surface, many of us think of a logo or slogan, but it is much deeper than that.
Your brand isn’t your appearance, sure people may or may not remember what you look like, but what do they remember about what you do, how do you make them feel? I have been being intentional about prioritizing the various roles that I have for about five months, in doing so I am careful to put my family first. I often make decisions based on the impact that my decisions will have on my husband and our son.
This self-awareness has me questioning, how do I make Willie feel? What does he think that I do as a wife? How do I make Solomon feel? What does he think that I do as his mommy? I’m on a journey to define my brand in all aspects of my life, but my brand as a wife and mother is my top priority. I want to make sure that I brand them with my love, presence, support, and encouragement.
