(Canal Fulton, Ohio) – Northwest Local Schools officials are announcing tentative plans to reopen schools on August 24th.
The reopening date is a week later than originally planned. School officials have indicated this is to allow teachers and other staff as much time as possible to prepare while also providing training for how to keep everyone healthy.
The district shared plans via their website recently where they indicated two formats being offered for students. Option one, the district will return to school in a traditional format, with appropriate safety measures in place, five days per week. “We strongly believe the traditional school format is the best learning model for most students,” officials explained in the posting. However, a second option is also being made available. Online learning will also be available to families and students who are not able to or choose not to return to the traditional format at this time.
Officials added that all plans are subject to change based on evolving conditions, data about the status of the pandemic, and recommendations and guidance from public health authorities and the scientific community.
