Ohio Department of Education Issue School Report Cards

(Ohio) – Community members can now see the rating schools in their district received from the state.

ODE officials explain on the website that “report cards are designed to give parents, communities, educators and policymakers information about the performance of districts and schools – to celebrate success and identify areas for improvement.”

On the homepage of the website, you can simply type the school you’d like to know the grade for in the search box. Or, you can type the county and a list of all graded schools in that particular county will populate.

The information provided identifies schools to receive intensive supports, drives local conversations on continuous improvement, and provides transparent reporting on the performance of students in foundational skills and knowledge and other important outcomes such as graduation and college and career readiness, the website states. “The goal is to ensure equitable outcomes and high expectations for all of Ohio’s students.

Officials note that the report cards are only part of the equation, “To get a fuller picture, we encourage you to visit schools, talk to educators, parents, and students and review the school’s or district’s webpage.”

Additionally, schools have the opportunity to receive several rewards and recognition: Schools of Promise, Schools of Honor, All A Award, The Momentum Award, Blue Ribbon Schools, National Title 1 Distinguished Schools, and Ohio Green Ribbon Schools.
