(Ohio) – Two Democratic representatives are urging the governor to declare a state of emergency as it relates to childhood trauma.
Advocates claim trauma for children can include that from a divorce, a death, neighborhood violence or any number of tragedies.
Supporters of the idea say it is the first step towards of goal of later introducing a bill that would offer more resources such as screening in schools to better identify children who may be dealing with trauma.
Reports indicate they are working to get a meeting with Governor Mike DeWine to further explore the idea.
