Over a Dozen Local Students Qualify for State Competition

Buckeye Career Center is announcing qualifying students that will compete in the Ohio SkillsUSA event.

Officials note 27 BCC students competed Saturday, February 24th at the regional competition with 17 of them advancing.

The others heading to state are competing in categories without regional competitions.

Results from Saturday’s regional contest include the following gold medal winners:

Welding Fabrication: Jonathan Pollock (New Philadelphia), Logan Guinn (Indian Valley) and Derek Alander (Indian Valley)

Automotive Service Technology: Shawn Mansfield (Claymont)

Nail Care: McKenzie Patterson (Indian Valley) with model McKenzie DeVore (Claymont); Bronze Medal Winner: First Aid/CPR: Mahaley Heavilin (New Philadelphia).

The SkillsUSA Ohio State Championship will be held April 24th and April 25th in Columbus.
