(Hartville, Ohio) – Pegasus Farm invites the community to celebrate the harvest of their blueberries in their Country Store and Gardens.
To kick off the two-day event, Pegasus Farm will host Symphony in the Garden, Friday, July 23 from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. with a 4 string from the Canton Symphony. On Saturday, July 24, they will have their third annual Blueberry Festival. Both events are free and open to the public.
The weekend kicks off with a 4 string quartet from the Canton Symphony on Friday evening. The 4 string will play in the garden and guests are welcome to bring chairs, a blanket, and a picnic. Snacks and drinks will be available for purchase in the Country Store. Guests will enjoy the melodic sounds of the quartet while taking in all the beauty of the five-acre wellness garden. The quartet will begin playing at 6:45 p.m.
The Blueberry Festival
The Blueberry Festival is sure to be enjoyable for guests of all ages. Beginning at 10 a.m., you can explore the five-acre garden on a scavenger hunt, make your own ice cream, meet the horses, enjoy a wagon ride, get your picture taken with one of the horses (fee), and so much more. Grab a blueberry sundae, soda float, or another snack from a host of options. We would like to thank Strouble Water Hauling and Trucking for their ongoing sponsorship of this event.
The Country Store and Gardens
As guests experience The Country Store and Gardens, they will learn the gardens grow beyond fruits and vegetables. The Country Store and Gardens are maintained and staffed by the Wings program participants. The program provides training and employment opportunities for adults with disabilities. Participants use this training site to learn how to care for, harvest, and sell food that has been grown in the gardens. “I like coming to work so I can be with my friends and help people,” explained Amy, one of the Wings participants. As guests enjoy tours of the store and gardens, they will learn the unique growth strategies in place and how our participants are able to learn important skills in this irreplaceable environment.
Admission is free to both events. The Country Store is open for shopping. Sales from the Country Store support the mission of Pegasus Farm, providing services to individuals with special needs. Please look for parking signs for each event. Along with these festivals, the Country Store and Gardens is open Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pegasus Farm is located at 7490 Edison St. NE in Hartville (southwest corner of route 619 and route 44).
