Farewell to Summer in Style

Labor Day Weekend closes out some summer features like beach fun swimming, but fear not because Fall Fun awaits.  From camping and free boat launching to fishing and hiking- they will remain available all year long at the MWCD parks.  MWCD’s lakes and lands continue to be a popular destination for couples, families, guys/gals bonding experiences as they have for the past several decades.

September 2nd – 5th, 2022

As the kids return back to school- embrace the final dog days of summer with a memorable family adventure.

Rent a cabin, pack a tent, or join for the day and sleep back at home!  This great family and friends getaway weekend costs $10 gate admission.
 

Labor Day Weekend at Pleasant Hill Lake Park

12a-6:00p– Whoa Zone Water Park OPEN at the swim beach area. On the Lake Fun for Everyone. Tickets online.

6p-8p- Naturalist On Duty:  Nature Room OPEN COME FEED THE ANIMALS Naturalist is available to assist with any questions, and self-directed activities. Watch the Park Orientation / History video at the welcome center.  

Saturday, Sep. 3rd

9a-11a- Naturalist On Duty: Nature Room OPEN. COME FEED THE ANIMALS Naturalist is available to assist with any questions, self-directed activities or programs scheduled for week. Watch the Park Orientation / History video at the welcome center. Sign up for craft times.

11a-1pm- Family crafts- Themed crafts for kids and adultsSign up for your time slot to make a craft to take home. See staff for sign-up and details.

1p-3p- Survival skills- Fire building using flint & steel, Map & compass. Welcome center campfire area

4p- 9p- LIVE MUSIC – Gypsy Stew Band and DJ/ music – Music all day long until fireworksAt the beach trailer stage.

FIREWORKS on the Lake– New this year. Download the FREE pyrocast.com app on your phone to get show updates and listen to synced music during the show.  Fireworks will be set off on a floating platform off the beach area at DUSK.

     

Sunday, Sep. 4th

9a-11a- Naturalist On Duty: Nature Room OPEN. COME FEED THE ANIMALS Naturalist is available to assist with any questions, self-directed activities, or programs scheduled for the week. Watch the Park Orientation / History video at the welcome center.

9:00 pm- MOVIE at the Lake- Showing “DUNE” (PG13) Paul must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and people. Outdoor Big Screen weather permitting. Welcome Center outdoor area.

Friday, September 2

4-7pm           Traveling Craft for Kids – Watch for our program staff traveling through the camp areas passing out craft kits!

9-11pm         Movie at the Lake – Bring your blankets and camp chairs to the beach to watch a family-friendly movie on the BIG screen! The movie is rated PG and will start at dusk. You can also watch from your golf cart or car. Please park vehicles towards the back. See flyer at park for movie title.

Saturday, September 3

1pm              Wagon Ride Ticket Sales – Tickets for Saturday’s rides will be sold inside Registration. Tickets are $0.50 each and limit of 4 tickets per person in line. Children 3 and under are free but must have a ticket to ride. Tickets are limited and sold on a ‘’first come-first serve” basis. Limit 20 people per ride.

3-5pm           Nature Center Open & Craft for Kids – Stop in anytime to explore the nature center and decorate a bag to take with you for trick-or-treat.

5:30pm         Costume Parade for Kids – Meet at the basketball courts to show off your Halloween costume! We will be parading around the courts for a chance to win a prize.

6-7pm           Trick-or-Treat – Keep your costume on and walk through the camp areas, stopping at participating campsites collecting treats.

8-11pm            DJ Ronnie B – Meet at the sports courts for an evening of music and fun!

8-11pm         Wagon Rides – Meet at the sports courts 15 minutes prior to your ticket time. Must have ticket to ride.

9:30pm        Costume Contest for Adults – Meet at the basketball courts to show off your Halloween costume! Prizes top places.

Sunday, September 4

11am-12pm   Pumpkin Craft for Adults – Stop in anytime to make a pumpkin decoration at the Nature Center. This craft involves paint! While supplies last.

1pm              Wagon Ride Ticket Sales – Tickets for Sunday’s rides will be sold inside Registration. See description above.

1-3pm           Nature Center Open – Explore the nature center and enjoy an ice cream drink treat!

4-5pm              Kids BINGO – Try your luck at BINGO at the Activity Center. Bring a full-size candy bar.

5-6pm           Adult BINGO – Try your luck at BINGO at the Activity Center. Bring a $2 gift.

8-11pm         Wagon Rides – Meet at the sports courts 15 minutes prior to your ticket time. Must have ticket to ride.

8-11pm            LIVE Music: Pocket Change Band – Bring your chair or golf cart to the sports courts to listen to live music from the 60s to today.

8pm              Tappan Golf Cart Club Parade – Decorate your golf cart and head to the beach for line up at 8pm. Parade will start at 8:30pm.

Friday, September 2

7pm               Traveling Craft Kit – Watch for the gator traveling through the campgrounds with craft kits.

7:30pm          Family BINGO – Visit the Messerly Recreation Center for a night of family bingo, treats, and prizes!

8:45pm          Kids Labor Day Egg Hunt – Meet at the Messerly Recreation Center, bring a flashlight and let’s go hunting! Drawing for top prize.

Saturday, September 3

10:30-11am   End of Year Brunch – Enjoy scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, biscuits, juice, and coffee at the Messerly Recreation Center. Suggested donation is $2.00; cash only, while supplies last

12pm             Canvas Painting for Adults – Meet at the Messerly Recreation Center and paint an Iceland Puffin Scene with Linda Goodman! Cost is $6 and reservation is required at 419-368-6885, limited to 15.

1-4pm            Poker Paddle- Paddle around Charles Mill Lake to find poker stops and collect cards to compete for the best poker hand! Kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards welcome. Prizes will be awarded for the best and worst poker hands! Grand prize is a FREE kayak!! Registration is required at https://mwcd.ticketleap.com

2pm               Water Balloon Soccer – Play soccer with water balloons, dress to get wet! Ages 6-12. This event is taking place at the Main Camp and Eagle Point. For the Main Camp event meet at the playground area and for the Eagle Point event meet at the pool area.

3pm               Cornhole Tournament at Main Camp – Meet at the Main Camp cornhole area by playground at 2:45 to register your team! $3 per team, ages 16 and up. Prizes for the top three teams.

3:30pm         Cornhole Tournament at Eagle Point – Meet at Eagle Point cornhole area at 3:15 to register your team! $3 per team, ages 16 and up. Prizes for the top three teams.

 5-10pm         Catfish Tournament – Find the biggest fish and or catch 3 fishes for top weight. Registration at SR 430 public launch ramp starting at 4:30pm. Cost is $15 per two-person team and additional $7.50 for big fish entry.

8pm               Football Time – Watch the OSU vs. Notre Dame game at the Messerly Recreation Center. Enter the raffle drawing for a chance to win an OSU cornhole set and enjoy brats and hot dogs at half time.

Dusk     FIREWORKS Over the Lake – Enjoy a fireworks display over the lake from your boat or campsite! Sponsored by Donaldson Law Office. 

Sunday, September 4

10:15am       Non-Denominational Church Service at the Messerly Recreation Center.

12pm             Nature Time – Meet at the pool area to learn about animal footprints and make your own footprint!

1pm               Outdoor Yahtzee for Adults – Find a partner and play outdoor Yahtzee at the Messerly Recreation Center. Prize for top team.

2pm            Nate the Great Magic Show – Enjoy a magic show and balloon art with Nate the Great at the Eagle Point Shelter.

3:30-5pm      Carnival and Casino Games – Don’t miss this exciting event at the Messerly Recreation Center. Enjoy a wide variety of carnival and casino games for all ages and win prizes, 12 tickets for $2.

7:30pm           DJ Mr. Ed. – Enjoy DJ music with Mr. Ed. Song requests can be made! Try your skills at karaoke at the Eagle Point Shelter.

Friday, September 2

6-8pm       Traveling Program Wagon (Park Side & Marina Point) – Look for our traveling program staff and wagon full fun as they travel through the camp areas stopping at campsites with schedules and craft kits!

9pm        Guided Night Hike (Park Side) – Discover the sounds of the night on a guided night hike along the Lakeside Trail! Meet at the Log Cabin Nature Center. Be prepared for a 2-mile walk with sneakers.

Saturday, September 3

12-1pm    Patriotic Windsock Craft for Kids (Marina Point) – Meet at Marina Point Shelter #2 to make a windsock to hang at your campsites! While supplies last.

2-4pm      Nature Center Open & Cloud Dough Craft for Kids (Park Side) – Explore the Nature Center and make your own cloud dough!

4:30pm     Parade Decorating (Park Side & Marina Point) – Meet on the beach concession stand at Park Side and Marina Point Shelter #2 to decorate your bike and cart for a Memorial Day parade.

5-6pm      Bike & Golf Cart Parade (Park Side & Marina Point) – Feature your decorated bike or golf cart in the parade. Line up in the beach parking area at Park Side and basketball court area at Marina Point, please be considerate to others using the parking lot.      

7-9pm      Cornhole Tournament (Park Side) – Grab your favorite cornhole partner and register at https://MWCD.ticketleap.com by September 2. Prizes for the top team!!

1-2pm      Ice Cream Social (Marina Point) – Stop by Marina Point Shelter #2 to enjoy a sweet treat! While supplies last.

3-4pm      Patriotic Jar Craft for Adults (Park Side) – Join us at Park Side Shelter #1 to paint your own set of patriotic jars. Available while supplies last.

5-6pm      Yard Game Mania! (Marina Point) – Join us near the Shelter #2 for yard game mania!  We will have multiple games like cornhole, spike ball, KanJam and others set up at the beach for you to play (or learn to play) at your convenience!

7-10pm    LIVE Music: Badstone (Park Side) – Bring your blankets and camp chairs to the beach and enjoy this cover band playing rock favorites from the 60s to today.

Responsible stewards dedicated to providing the benefits of flood reduction, conservation and recreation in the Muskingum River Watershed. The MWCD is the largest conservancy district in the state and led the effort to construct 14 dams and reservoirs. The MWCD has jurisdiction for its operations in all or portions of an 18-county area. The 18 counties wholly or partially contained in the MWCD jurisdiction are Ashland, Belmont, Carroll, Coshocton, Guernsey, Holmes, Harrison, Knox, Licking, Morgan, Muskingum, Noble, Richland, Stark, Summit, Tuscarawas, Wayne, and Washington.
