Being pregnant and birthing babies are two of the most difficult things you can do in this lifetime. Even after, ensuring your family has all the necessities to live a safe, happy life can be difficult as well, putting undue strain on your mental health. As a mom, we’re wearing all the hats to make sure our family is being cared for, but sometimes we hit a wall.

Whether you get sick and have to call off a week or two (losing those paychecks), your car breaks down, or you lose child care, it can be SO rough to maintain the day-to-day.

Baby/Child Health, Wellness, and Safety 

The Tuscarawas County Health Department (TCHD) offers so much help for moms to keep their babies and kids healthy, happy, and safe! Read on for the variety of ways the TCHD can help you. 

Safe Beginnings

A program to help you get all the safety items or equipment you need for your babies and children to get off to a safe start! Qualifying families could receive a:

  • Crib or toddler bed with a mattress
  • Baby monitor
  • High Chair
  • Safety Gate
  • Stroller
  • Smoke Alarm
  • Home Childproofing Kit
Cribs for Kids

Qualifying families receive a free pack n’ play!

Ohio Buckles Buckeyes

This program provides one car seat or booster seat to eligible families every three years per child!

WIC (Women, Infants, and Children)

Lots of mommas know about WIC, the one-stop shop for ensuring your littles under age 5 are getting proper nutrition! They help qualifying families get healthy, nutritious food and monitor your child to ensure they’re growing as they should. WIC also provides help to breastfeeding moms, pairs you with resources, and works with your baby’s pediatrician if a prescription formula is needed for your baby!

Medical Clinic/Vaccines

 You can get your whole family up-to-date on any necessary vaccinations, as well as see the staff at the clinic for women and men’s health, reproductive health, and get referrals to see a specialist! If you can’t pay, they won’t turn you away!

Tuscarawas County Job & Family Services

TCJFS helps everyone with anything from public assistance (food assistance, child care, healthcare, work activities), children services, transportation, and much more! Apply for benefits today.

HARCATUS

HARCATUS provides a wealth of community services for Harrison, Carrollton, and Tuscarawas counties such as: Early Head Start, Head Start, Home Energy Assistance, Water Assistance, Home Relief, and much more! Check out their community service offerings online.

United Way of Tuscarawas County

The United Way of Tuscarawas County is the ultimate resource in helping match you with the best community partner to solve whatever issue you’ve come across. Tuscarawas Metropolitan Housing Authority

The Tuscarawas Metropolitan Housing Authority makes it their mission to assist eligible families to find safe, decent, and affordable housing without discrimination. If you need assistance with rent, try applying for the Section 8 program through them!

Friends of the Homeless of Tuscarawas County

When you have nowhere else to turn, the Friends of the Homeless of Tuscarawas County has your back. If you are in need of a safe place to stay for the night, call (330) 602-6100. They also provide resources for food, housing assistance, transportation, and much more!

Access Tuscarawas

Access Tuscarawas provides health resources, counseling, addiction resources, as well as transportation resources to get you where you need to go for appointments and social events!
