(New Philadelphia, Ohio) – It’s nearly time to begin the 2020-2021 school year at Buckeye Career Center.
Although the year may look and feel different than normal, Buckeye Career Center explained in a press release that the staff is committed to providing the best career-technical education possible for students. In order to do so, officials indicated changes have been made to school days to reduce the population of students in the building each day.
The school calendar will begin with an orientation week Monday, August 24 – Friday, August 28th. Students are being organized by school district with approximately 200 students attending each day to complete orientation and first day of school activities. Students should only attend that week on the day their partner school is scheduled. The schedule is as follows:
8/24: New Philadelphia and Conotton Valley
8/25: Dover, Garaway, and Hiland
8/26: Claymont, Strasburg, TCC, open-enrolled
8/27: Indian Valley and Newcomerstown
8/28: Carrollton, Tusky Valley, all home school, and all virtual students.
Students will attend his/her orientation day from 7:50am-2:25pm. During orientation, students will have the opportunity to pay all fees, join Drug-Free Clubs of America, and get a parking pass. In addition, Solid Rock Photos will be on hand to take student ID and school photos for the year.
The school year will continue on August 31st with the amended schedule. Students will attend in-person two or three days each week for lab and will complete their academics online. Seniors should plan to attend in-person Monday, Tuesday, and every other Wednesday while completing their academics online. Juniors should complete their academics online Monday and Tuesday, and prepare to attend in-person every other Wednesday and every Thursday and Friday.
