Volunteers Can Fight For Ukraine: Here’s How! If you’re a former vet, police officer, or someone with combat experience, you can join the fight to assist Ukraine in the assault started by Russian forces. Find out how you can help here on Newsymom!
It’s been difficult to watch the series of assaults unfold on Ukraine from Russian forces. In this age of social media, we’re bombarded with proof of the ongoing assault destroying cities, killing innocents, and terrorizing the people of Ukraine. However, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Thousands of people are voluntarily joining the fight from all corners of the globe!

If you’ve had enough watching as well and want to jump into action, now you can! Through Ukrainian President Zelenskyy’s program, “The International Legion of Territorial Defense of Ukraine”, former vets, police, and anyone with combat experience from any country can join the fight to help the Ukrainian people!
Here’s How You Can Join:
Step One
Apply to the Embassy of Ukraine in your country. Here in America, you can do it in person, call (202) 349-2963, or send an email to emb_us@mfa.gov.ua. Let them know your intention is to join the International Legion of Territorial Defense of Ukraine.
Step Two
Get the necessary documents together! They’ll need your ID, passport for traveling, and any documents proving your combat experience.
Step Three
Go to the interview at the embassy with all the documentation they need from you. You’ll meet with representatives to talk about the specifics of this program. You’ll sign a voluntary contract and receive further instructions on what you should bring. Any armor, equipment, helmets, or uniforms might be requested of you!
Step Four
Go to Ukraine with assistance from the Embassy. Be safe and kick some butt!
Some have asked whether medical personnel are being requested (medics, nurses, etc.). Call the Embassy to find out if you can help!
What If I Don’t Have Combat Experience? How Else Can I Help?
No worries! There are other ways you can help Ukraine with their fight against Russia.
- Donate to organizations such as United Help Ukraine, UNICEF, and The American Red Cross. You can even donate on Facebook to organizations like Sunflower of Peace. They collect medical supplies for front line medics and doctors.
- Use your voice to spread awareness of the happenings in Ukraine. The more we voice our disapproval of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s actions, the more reason he has to pull out his forces! Organize protests here at home with media coverage to make it stick.
- Stay informed. Read The Kyiv Independent to stay current with all the facts of the war and support Ukraine’s people.

This war isn’t just about politics: it’s an infringement on human rights. Stay strong, Ukraine. You’ve got this!
