The use of any drug always carries some risk.  It is important to be careful when taking any type of drug.

Youth are influenced by adults and older children or older coworkers.  They don’t always understand the consequences of nicotine to their growth and future because nicotine is incredibly easy to get.  What deterrents or education can you give your youth that nicotine may be legal by the age of 18, however, it is still a drug.  There are still effects on the body and overall health.

On average youth are 16 years old when they have their first full cigarette.  But knowing that nicotine is not just in cigarettes doesn’t mean that the youth haven’t in some form have taken into their bodies some type of nicotine by the age of 12 on average.

We like to talk about not drinking underage, not doing drugs and other topics that protect our youth.  But what about the facts and education about nicotine?  Nicotine is still a drug and has many effects that our youth need to be educated on in the lessons of life we as adults are responsible to give our youth.
