Newsymom.com is partnering with Elaine Zurcher and Kohlton Calvey of Uhrichsville to collect school supply donations that will be sent to Texas in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey.
Elaine Zurcher told Newsymom.com that her 10-year-old son, Kohlton, came to her with concerns about students in Texas heading back to school without the materials and supplies to help them learn.
“He was worried about the kids going back to school and not having any school supplies. Said Zurcher. “We just want to make sure that their parents don’t have to worry. That they can go back and they can learn. You know they are going through enough stress right now and we just want to make the transition a little bit smoother for them.”
On Sunday, September 17th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. a school-supply drive will be held in the parking lot of Emily’s Thrift Store at 1 North Street in Dennison.
If you are unable to be at the drive in person, please contact Michaela@newsymom.com.
Newsymom.com volunteers will be picking up donations on Saturday, September 16th to take to the collection drive on Sunday.
All items will be donated to La Grange Intermediate School in La Grange Texas.
The Uhrichsville Police Department has ensured Zurcher that they will help her get the items collected to students in Texas, “one way or another.”
Again, if you’re interested in donating school supplies such as pens, pencils, backpacks, glue, crayons, notebooks, paper, binders etc. but are unable to make it to the donation drive event on September 17th, please email Michaela@newsymom.com.
We’ll be sure to get your donation to the drive and to the kids that need them!
