We all remember those days of pure exhaustion with our newborns: waking every couple hours for feedings, fussiness from gas and discomfort, diaper blowouts and projectile vomiting to name a few…

Regardless of our exhaustion, we have to make sure our babies are sleeping safely! Safe sleep among babies is literally a life or death situation. About 3,400 babies die each year suddenly and unexpectedly. To help lower those numbers, the Tuscarawas County Health Department wants to give your baby a safe place to sleep through their program, Cribs for Kids! Qualifying families will receive a free pack n’ play.

The Stats on Unexpected Infant Deaths

Of that 3,400 sudden, unexpected infant deaths, the following stats apply:

  • 41% are due to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS)
  • 27% are due to accidental suffocation and strangulation in bed
  • 32% are unknown causes
These are the stats! Don’t allow your baby to be among them. Have them sleeping safe and sound.

We can lower the numbers just by making sure our babies are sleeping alone, on their back, and in their cribs!

Follow the steps in this video to ensure your baby is sleeping safely!
