(Mineral City, Ohio) – Tuscarawas Valley Local Schools officials are beginning to discuss the details regarding how the district will open n the fall.
Officials held a discussion on the topic earlier this week where they touched on the safety protocols that will need to be in place for students. The school board indicated plans to continue gathering information so as to launch a uniform plan for the district while noting it will not be possible for the district to accommodate all students very day.
The district provided the following prepared statement:
“Our team continues to put together a framework and potential reopening plan based on information and guidance available at this precise moment. Although the exact model remains to be determined, Tuscarawas Valley Local School District remains a premier public school system dedicated to providing a personalized and safe educational experience to prepare today’s learners for tomorrow’s challenges.
To the greatest extent possible, all decisions and instructional delivery will be based on what is best for our students academically, socially, and emotionally. If a full return is not possible, we will do our best to schedule according to family groups. Lastly, we will do everything possible to ensure the safety of students and staff. Now we wait for further guidance and instruction from the Ohio Department of Education, the Ohio Health Department, and Governor DeWine’s office. “
School board officials confirmed likely plans to include both traditional learning styles as well as remote learning. Additionally, it is expected changes will be made for students riding school buses. The district administrators continue to meet regularly as they work to develop a plan.
