Taking (Mental Health) Matters into Your Own Hands

Greater emphasis has been put on mental health in the last few years. Dear Stark Women provides resources to improve your mental wellness.

Dear Stark Women is brought to you by the Stark County Health Dept.

You’ve likely heard the phrase, “It’s okay to not be okay,” but do you know the steps to take toward caring for yourself?

Focusing on Your Mental Health

In addition to making an appointment with a licensed mental health professional, you can change your habits at home to help improve your mental health.

  1. Prioritize getting the recommended amount of sleep.
  2. Move your body and exercise for 30 minutes, at least three times a week.
  3. Try to put healthier choices in your body- fruits, veggies, and proteins.
  4. Stay hydrated.
  5. Practice gratitude and make a daily habit of writing down something you’re thankful for.
  6. Set goals. Focus on priorities.
  7. Give yourself time to relax or focus on hobbies that bring you joy.
  8. Stay connected to loved ones and surround yourself with people that lift you up.

Reaching out to a counseling practice or mental health center is an important first step in your mental health journey, and Dear Stark Women has the resources for you.

You can find resources for mental health on the Dear Stark Women resource page. Additionally, the page provides links to addiction recovery, suicide and crisis lifelines, and drug habilitation information.

Dear Stark Women is a one-stop landing page to help families find and get connected to local resources.  The goal of the landing page is to increase awareness of and access to needed resources for after-hours care, affordable care, reproductive care, healthy relationships, mental health, transportation and more. For more information, visit https://dear-stark-women-starkcohealthoh.hub.arcgis.com.
