Tuscora Park pools closed for the season

(New Philadelphia, Ohio) – The New Philadelphia Parks and Recreation Board announced the decision last week.

The pools at Tuscora Park will remain closed for the season amid ongoing COVID-19 concerns. While the state department of health has published a variety of guidelines and lifted the ban on operating public pools and aquatic centers, the park board determined compliance was not feasible.

Officials noted compliance could lead to a significant financial risk for the city. While the pools will remain closed, officials have indicated some areas of Tuscora Park will be open. The concession stand will be open along with the tennis and pickleball courts, fishing, and bocce courts. However, the amusement rides and playgrounds will remain closed until further notice.

Additionally, Tuscora Park took to Facebook to also announce that New Philadelphia Quaker Stadium will reopen to the public on May 30th. The track will be able to be USD for walking and running, however, the turf is off-limits. Guidelines for social distancing will be posted and the public is asked to adhere to guidelines.
