Chances are there is a man in your life that you love. Whether it’s your partner, husband, brother, father, or friend, encourage him to focus on his health this month!
June is Men’s Health Month and it’s the perfect opportunity to talk with the men you love about their health. Encourage them to be active, listen to their bodies, and keep annual appointments.
How to Help Men Focus on Their Health
It can be difficult to ask someone to “get healthy”, but by suggesting useful tips and encouraging men to make small changes, you can make a difference.
- A better diet is always achievable. Eating fresh foods, cutting back on alcohol, and lessening sweets will make a difference in a man’s health.
- Support men as they make goals to move their body and improve their habits. Small, attainable goals are the best way to see a big change.
- Ask your male friends to educate themselves about common conditions such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, heart disease, and strokes.
According to the CDC, in the U.S. alone nearly 15% of men are considered in poor or fair condition and over 40% of men 20 years or older suffer from obesity. Over 50% of men in that same age group suffer from high blood pressure/hypertension. These startling numbers make it even more important to talk with the men you love about their health. Don’t put off the conversation- your family thrives when all the members are healthy and well.
