The Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District’s (MWCD) Board of Directors approved funding to eleven organizations in an effort to improve water quality through various projects. The grant program called Partners in Watershed Management (PWM) provides maintenance assessment funds to assist local organizations to implement water quality projects, flood reduction and mitigation programs, and watershed education efforts throughout the 18 counties.

The City of Green was awarded a grant in 2020 from the MWCD to install a rain garden near the historic Lichtenwalter Schoolhouse as an educational tool for utilizing rainwater. The rain garden was planted on May 1, 2021.

These eleven organizations were granted about $1.4 million in funds to implement their projects to protect citizens within the MWCD. Since the program started in 2009, 156 projects have been funded through a whopping $10.7 million in grants.
