What Can I Expect?

Head Start consists of four major components. These ideologies are the foundation for the education and care your child will receive in the Head Start program.

  • Education – A variety of learning experiences are provided to help children grow emotionally, socially, and intellectually.
  • Health – In addition to early identification of health problems, Head Start provides dental, medical, and mental health checks, information about immunization resources, and nutritional services.
  • Parental Involvement – Parents are involved in activities from start to finish; they participate in classes and workshops, volunteer in the program, and serve on a policy council and committees that make administrative decisions.
  • Social Services – Head Start provides outreach to families that may benefit from additional services.
