United Way Annual Campaign is a Success

The United Way of Ashland County announced that its annual campaign was a 100% success in 2021!

“In mid-December, we told the community that we were getting close to achieving the campaign challenge set by Bob and Jan Archer, but that we needed more community support to make it by the end of the year deadline,” said Stacy Schiemann, Executive Director of United Way of Ashland County.

The campaign total reached $773,535 by December 31, thanks to the help of Ashland County residents, and businesses. Bob and Jan’s challenge then brought it to $873,535.

Since the pandemic began, resources have been depleted. The need for services has continued to grow. The gifts to United Way will benefit their partner agencies and the community.

The success of this campaign has brought the opportunity for critical funding in 2022 to 15 partner agencies. and to 26 of their programs that provide services in areas such as income stability, health, and education.

“The community support given ensures agencies are able to receive full program funding in 2022 to serve the ever-increasing number of people who require services” Dan Lawson, Chair of the 2022 campaign stated.

In 2020, because of the generosity of Ashland County, services were provided to people over 21,000 times. Without the funding provided by the community, more people may have gone hungry. They may have been faced with financial hardships, or even ignored their mental health needs. The need for services grew rapidly in 2021, and The United Way expects the same for 2022.

Stacy Schiemann also stated that the following funded agencies provide critical services to the residents of Ashland County every day:

  • Ashland Parenting Plus
  • Associated Charities
  • Ashland County Cancer
  • ACCESS
  • Council on Aging
  • ACCADA
  • Children’s Advocacy Center
  • The YMCA
  • Salvation Army Kroc Center
  • Olive Tree Care
  • American Red Cross Heartland
  • Kidney Foundation of Ohio
  • Appleseed Community Mental Health
  • Hospice of North Central Ohio
  • Ashland Christian Health Center

In conclusion, many people that you know have likely been supported by a United Way donation,  and the impact of your generosity will be felt and remembered by generations to come.
