How To Do Good By Your Growing Daughters

As a mom to daughters, when they’re young you may spend time thinking about how you can raise them well. We all want our daughters to be strong and confident, happy and healthy – but how can we make that happen, and do we actually have any control over that?

The good news is that yes, you can influence them as they grow. And if you want to make sure that you’re going to do good by your daughters, these five tips should help you.

Project Positivity

To start with, one of the best things you can do for your girls is to make sure that they grow up with positivity on their minds. In this world, it’s all too easy to get bogged down with negativity and fear. Guide them in the right way, away from comparisons or negative thoughts, and raise them in a happy, positive environment.

Teach Healthy Food Habits

It’s always worrying when you have growing girls. At some point, you may feel as if an eating disorder could set in. It’s not okay to let our daughter grow up with any kind of fear around food. It’s much better to teach them how to nourish their bodies with good food, enjoy their favorite foods, and embrace their bodies, and be healthy!

Promote Self-Care

Most girls love to look after themselves. It’s fun to play with makeup and dress up – but there’s more to feeling good than that. Self-care is so important and it’s a good thing to make sure that your daughters focus on it. From running and bubble bath and having a spa night to seeing Westpark Pediatric Dentistry for important checkups. It’s a good idea to ensure they know how to look after themselves.

Build Resilience & Strengths

This point has the potential to sound a little strange, but all too often girls can shy away from speaking out or having a voice. And that isn’t always okay. Instead, try your hardest to make them resilient and encourage them to talk, share their opinions, and fight for what they believe in. Don’t allow male counterparts to make them feel small. Encourage them to be strong and feminine – it’s not always a choice between the two.

Encourage Their Wildest Dreams

Finally, you’re going to want to make sure that you not only support but aim to bring out their dreams. It’s good to have goals. Whether they want to be a doctor or lawyer, painter or WHO activist! Get them talking about their passions and interests and dreams early on and encourage them to go after them as a child, teen, and woman in the world!

Being a mom to daughters can often seem like it’s hard work. As the hormones and drama kick in, you might be a little stressed out. But raising strong, happy, and healthy girls is always going to be a good thing and these tips can help you to do that.
