(Dover, Ohio) – The Dover Public Library continues to reinstate in-person programming this summer by offering free programs such as Teen Tuesdays, for teens entering grades six through twelve.
What Are Teen Tuesdays?
Teen Tuesdays will take place each week at 11:00 AM outdoors at the Library or at Dover City Park. Teen Tuesdays began with a soft launch on Tuesday, June 8 at 11:00 AM and will continue through July 27. Events include art challenges, crafts, and music. There will be no Teen Tuesday on June 22. Registration is not necessary. Water will be served at all events. Interested patrons can contact Teen/Outreach Services Manager Liz Strauss at 330-343-6123 or at email@example.com for more information.
Tuesday, June 15, Teens are invited to participate in an art challenge at Outdoor Sketching at Dover City Park. Participants will meet at the StoryWalk® to receive a free outdoor sketching kit including a full-size sketchbook and a bag, and spend an hour sketching in the great outdoors.
Teen Tuesdays continue on Tuesday, June 29 with a Break-In Box at Dover City Park. At this challenge, teens will meet at the StoryWalk® again to solve clues to see if they can unlock the box and find the prizes inside.
Tuesday, July 6, teens will have the opportunity to share their creativity with the Dover Public Library at Chalk the Walk. At this art challenge, teens will have one hour to decorate the sidewalk surrounding the library based on a surprise theme.
Music comes to Teen Tuesdays on July 13 for the library’s Ukulele Jam, where teens will learn how to play some easy chords and songs on the ukulele. Teen musicians can bring their own ukuleles or use the library’s collection. No prior experience is required.
Teen Tuesdays return to Dover Park on Tuesday, July 20 for Outdoor Photography. Teen participants will meet at the StoryWalk® to take pictures for half an hour then regroup to print pictures and make mini scrapbooks with tools from the library’s Mobile STEAM Lab.
Finally, Teen Tuesdays will conclude with a teen favorite event back at the library, Sharpie Tie-Dye, on Tuesday, July 27. Teens are asked to bring their own white or light-colored t-shirt to decorate. The library will provide all other materials needed to make tie-dye creations with permanent markers.
Teen Tuesdays Are Free!
All Teen Tuesday events are free and open to teens entering grades six through twelve. These events are funded in part by the sponsors of the Dover Public Library’s Summer Reading Program and by a 21st Century After-school Learning Grant with Dover High School.
